The GS-31 looks like scrap and flies like a threat -- outfitted by Section 31, it's an Epic Grade 4 Interceptor available for levels 45-70 with 15 tiers of progression, and its unassuming appearance is entirely the point.
Gravitational Blast, its active ability, fires a beam dealing direct hull damage and applying a Weakened status to players and non-Armada hostiles; against a non-Armada hostile, the beam can chain to nearby targets, favoring ones closer to the original hit. Upgrading the GS-31 increases blast damage, and further research raises both the number of targets it can chain to and how effective debuffs against Weakened ships become. Two passives round it out: Apex Shred and Marked for Disposal, both increasing effectiveness against Apex Raider hostiles specifically. When two players' Gravitational Blasts overlap on the same target, the newer hit's values and duration simply override the earlier one, regardless of either player's research level.
Gravitational Shred Blast raises Apex Shred against Weakened players, Gravitational Precision raises Critical Chance against them, Gravitational Impact raises Critical Damage against them, and Gravitational Reinforcement raises Apex Barrier against them (though it doesn't apply when Tal is on the bridge or during station combat). A fully scaled GS-31 is also a strong Wave Defense pick against any Apex Barrier hostile, unlocks the GS-31 Refinery -- a top source of Ship Parts -- and speeds up Section 31 Faction progression. Its Beam cooldown drops as low as 48 seconds at Tier 15.
