You're already running Common Solo Outposts through your Outpost Control Center and pushing into the 50s+ Ops range, where the standard Outpost rewards stop moving the needle. Elite Solo Outposts are the harder, higher-value version of that same loop -- same two-layer structure (the Outpost itself, plus the Retaliation Hostiles defending it), but tuned for players who can already clear the non-Elite tier comfortably.
Elite Outposts need their own currency to attack: Elite Solo Outpost Strike Directives, separate from the directives that start a Common Outpost attack. You get them from the free track of the Outpost Battle Pass, plus whatever events and special releases hand out extra directives on top. No directives, no attack -- so if you're stockpiling for a push, that Battle Pass free track is worth clearing every season regardless of whether you buy the paid track.
Elite Outposts are tougher across the board -- higher difficulty at every level, stronger Retaliation Hostiles defending them, and better drop rates for Retaliation Medals and Plunder once you win. In exchange, the Elite Outpost Refinery trades your loot for noticeably more valuable materials than the Common-tier version, and the Outpost Upgrade Buffs you're stacking scale higher and apply more potently. One thing that doesn't change: Elite Outposts stay immune to non-generic Armada and Marauder abilities, the same protection Common Outposts have, while still benefiting from anything built specifically for Outpost combat.
Elite Outposts come in three flavors, each tied to a different hostile faction and available at the same nine level thresholds (53, 56, 60, 63, 66, 70, 73, 76, 80). Elite Cardassian Outposts lean into raw combat and economy buffs -- extra Apex Shred against Cardassian hostiles, big cargo and loot multipliers, and steep officer-stat and Hull Health boosts at the top level. Elite Node Outposts specialize in PvP and Station Combat, stacking Isolytic and Apex Barrier bonuses along with a large reduction to enemy critical damage in the opening rounds of a PvP fight. Elite Borg Outposts focus on Isolytic and Critical mechanics broadly, boosting Isolytic Defense against Borg hostiles specifically as well as general mitigation and Apex Barrier against any hostile or Armada. Which one to prioritize depends on whether you're gearing for PvE grinding, PvP defense, or Borg-specific content.
Three currencies keep the Elite loop running: the Basic Directive that starts an attack, Elite Solo Outpost Credits earned from winning attacks or defending against Retaliation raids (spent in the Refinery), and Epic Solo Outpost Components used to upgrade the buffs on an Outpost you're holding. The Refinery itself unlocks the moment you build the Outpost Control Center and scales in three grades -- G5 opens once the Refinery exists and maxes out at Ops 60, G6 opens at Ops 61 and maxes at Ops 70, and G7 opens at Ops 71 and maxes at Ops 80. Each grade's exchanges are worth meaningfully more than the equivalent Common-Outpost trade, so it's worth checking the Refinery again every time you cross one of those Ops thresholds.
The Elite Outpost Refinery is also where you'll find shards and Skill Points for Fleet Commander Benjamin Sisko, available from Ops 51 on a 20-hour claim cooldown, alongside Sigma Commander Rankup Credits and an extra FC seat unlock. Retaliation Medal rewards now include shards for Ezri Dax, and there's a tradedown bundle letting you convert surplus Epic Outpost Components into Rare ones if you're short. Elite Outposts also carry Federation, Klingon, and Romulan faction reputation bundles across the G5-G7 grades, unlocking and improving on the same Ops thresholds as the Refinery grades above, and exchangeable for Elite Solo Outpost Credits. One practical note worth knowing before you grind: Outpost kills don't count against your daily PvE hostile loot cap, so farming Outposts doesn't eat into the budget you'd otherwise spend on regular hostiles.
