01 TWO KINDS OF REFIT

Refits unlock at Level 15 and let you personalize a ship's look while also picking up a permanent stat gain. Ship Skins attach to one specific ship, changing its appearance and granting a bonus that stays active even if you later remove the skin -- it can't be disabled once unlocked. Projectiles change the animation of a ship's weapon fire and, for some, also grant a stacking buff that applies to every ship you own automatically, whether or not the projectile is currently equipped. Both come in Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic rarities, and not every ship has a Skin available -- they're designed per-hull.

02 WHERE TO FIND AND MANAGE THEM

Refits show up wherever a ship's appearance matters -- the Object Viewer, Scan Screen, Drydocks, System View, and Combat/Battle Reports. To manage what you own or preview what's still locked, open the Ship Hangar and tap REFITS, or select a ship, tap MANAGE, then REFITS from its own menu.

03 UNLOCKING, PLUS SHIP CLOAKING AND SHIP ABILITIES

Ship Skins unlock with skin-specific Shards; both Skin and Projectile Shards come from event rewards, special chests, and in-game offers, so it's worth watching for limited-time cosmetic events. The Refits menu also houses two related systems that live in the same UI but work differently: Ship Cloaking, which makes an eligible ship invisible and untargetable (see our dedicated Cloaking guide), and Ship Abilities, passive or active buffs baked into specific ships that behave like Officer or Research bonuses rather than cosmetics.

The Refits menu splits into four categories: Ship Skins, Projectiles, Ship Cloaking, and Ship Abilities.
