01 A DIFFERENT KIND OF BUILDING

Past roughly Operations 30, the station starts adding buildings that don't work like Operations or the Refinery — each one is tied to a specific hostile family, resource loop, or feature (Krenim, Mirror Universe, Transogen, Aggregation, ship quality-of-life) rather than being something every player upgrades on the same schedule. They're worth knowing about even before you're ready to invest, because several of them gate content you'll otherwise bounce off: mining rates, damage bonuses against a specific enemy type, or entire refinery tabs stay locked until the matching building goes up.

02 DEPARTMENT OF TEMPORAL INVESTIGATIONS HEADQUARTERS

The DTI Headquarters unlocks at Operations 42 through the "Unlock Temporal Loop" chest in Gifts, built and upgraded with DTI Security Access Cards earned from the DTI Faction Store and events. It buffs PvP Apex Barrier, Isolytic Defense and Damage (essential against Krenim enemies specifically), all officer base stats, Broken Ship Parts drop rate, and general damage versus Krenim — and it unlocks the DTI Faction Store itself, a 7-rank progression track built around exchanging Static and Charged DTI Credits for Artifacts (including Janeway's Pocket Watch and the Krenim Time Weapon), Chaos Tech, and reputation for Federation, Klingon, Romulan and Ex-Borg. The building also unlocks Material Converters at levels 30, 40 and 50 for G4, G5 and G6 materials respectively, letting you trade a surplus material or rarity for one you're actually short on — found under Refinery, Materials tab.

03 THE DISTRICT 56 BUILDING

District 56 unlocks at Operations 40 by exchanging Liquid Trellium-D in the Mirror Universe Refinery for Mirror Fragments, which both build and upgrade it (Mirror Fragments also come from the Daily Drip in the same Refinery, Territory Capture Battle Pass rewards, the Event Store and Special Offers). It's built around the Mirror Universe loop and PvP: at its maximum level of 70, it adds 5,000 PvP Apex Barrier, reduces an opponent's PvP critical damage by 125%, adds 750% to general Mitigation stats, and extends your time inside the Mirror Universe by 50% (turning a 20-minute trip into 30). It also unlocks free daily gifts in the Mirror Refinery — extra Trellium, an additional Mirror Universe trip every 3 days, and Premium Rift Keys.

04 INDEPENDENT ARCHIVES

Independent Archives is both a building and a quality-of-life system for what the game calls Archive-supported ships — currently the Botany Bay, Vi'dar, Vi'dar Talios, USS Voyager, Monaveen, Ferengi D'Vor, D'Vor Feesha, USS Franklin, Franklin-A, Amalgam, the Meridian and the Mantis, with more added over time. Building and upgrading it costs Independent Archives Schematics, earned from events, missions like "Personal Records," or the Store; once built, 400 Schematics are claimable daily from Gifts. The point of the system is consolidation: pick the Archive Track for the ship that matters most to you and work through its Archive Pillars, each of which grants a buff and folds that ship's scattered store and refinery reward claims into fewer clicks. Fully mastering a Track (clearing its last Pillar) merges everything tied to that ship's progression into one daily "Claim All" button, and multiple mastered Tracks can all be claimed together. One piece of housekeeping specific to the Franklin: players who scrapped a Franklin at Tier 1-8 to unlock Franklin-A can still claim Archive Pillars up to the tier they scrapped at, scrapping at Tier 9 clears the whole Archive, and anyone who needs to rebuild a Franklin from scratch can get blueprints through Cosmic Cleanup events or a dedicated Franklin Blueprint claim (up to 3 a day, small Tritanium cost) in the Resources Refinery — which disappears once the Franklin Archive is mastered.

How Independent Archives works: build it, focus an Archive Entry, unlock its Pillars for buffs, then claim every mastered Track's rewards in one place, daily.

05 NOVA SQUADRON

The Nova Squadron building unlocks at Operations 30 via Starfleet Distinctions from Gifts, and upgrades on Starfleet Honors (Free Daily Claim, Wave Defense Battle Pass rewards, the Event Store, or Offers). Its mechanic is distinct from every other building on this list: rather than adding a new combat effect, it strengthens Status Effects you can already apply — Burning, Morale and Hull Breach — turning them into stronger conditional Combat Buffs. That makes it a multiplier on ships and crews that already inflict those effects rather than something that works for everyone out of the box, so it's only worth investing in once your loadout can reliably trigger the status it's meant to amplify. On top of the status buffs, the building generates Nova Squadron Particles that feed the Star Path Research Tree, and it links directly to that tree from its own menu; upgrading Nova Squadron also strengthens whatever research nodes it powers.

06 THE TRANSOGEN FORGE

The Transogen Forge unlocks at Operations 30 and is built specifically around Transogen mining and scrapping. Its buffs include Iso Damage, an Apex Armor bonus, faster scrapping, an Artifact cost-efficiency boost, a new Exocomp slot, and increasing rewards at every tier — but its headline effect is mining rate, which spikes noticeably at levels 15 (Common Transogen), 30 (Uncommon) and 45 (Rare). The Forge Star Path research it unlocks adds FKR G3-G6 jump drives in the Transogen refinery for instant travel across the galaxy, plus one-time Tier Up rewards at milestone building levels.

07 RECON LOCUS AND AGGREGATION RESEARCH

The Recon Locus unlocks at Operations 45 and is the gateway to the Aggregation loop: it's required before you can touch Aggregation Research or Prototype Tech at all. Its standout feature is the Hyperthermic Stabilizer, which counters Hyperthermic Decay — a debuff specific to Aggregation Hostiles — alongside general Building, Research and Ship Build speed bonuses. The Aggregation Research tree it unlocks (starting the moment Recon Locus hits level 1) is unusually broad for a single tree: PvE power against Aggregation Hostiles, Iso Damage against Augment Exile hostiles, Apex Shred and Critical Damage in Wave Defense, faster Transogen mining, Forbidden Tech efficiency, PvP buffs for specific ship classes, and — notably — U.S.S. Vengeance ship part cost efficiency, which the source material flags as one of the single most valuable upgrades in the tree for players already running that ship. Every node is gated behind a specific Recon Locus building level, so the building itself is the pacing mechanism for the whole tree.

08 STARFLEET ACADEMY: REMOTE CAMPUS

The Remote Campus is a late-game building for Operations 61-80, capping at building level 80, and its core purpose is making Academy Training Drones survivable: Critical Mitigation against them starts at 1,000 and scales to 1,550,000 as you level it up. On top of that it adds G7 Building Material cost efficiency (50% to 300%, from level 20), Sigma Resource Refinery bonuses (100% to 300%, from level 20), and Apex Barrier bonuses against both non-Armada hostiles and players (from level 30), plus one-time milestone rewards — Academy Field Passes, Simulation Codes, Sigma Speedups — every 10 levels from 20 to 80. The building runs its own resource loop through the Academy Refinery: claim a free daily Academy Field Pass, fly to Starfleet Academy Space (starting at the system Itraneia, level 61), destroy Training Drones for Training Merits, exchange those for Engineering Credits, and spend Engineering Credits on Class Honors (which upgrade the Remote Campus itself), Simulation Codes (which start Duo Wave Defense runs for two players), Sigma resources, or Rare Section 31 Transmitters for upgrading the Facade building. Duo Wave Defense itself pays out further Science and Command Credits, tradeable for G6-G7 materials and for Academy officers and Officer Laurels, a universal officer promotion currency.
