What is my purpose? Most will ask that question, some will spend their entire lives trying to find the answer. How would it feel, then, to discover that your purpose, your reason for existing at all, was one of destruction? Icheb was born to the Brunali homeworld, on the mouth of a Borg transwarp conduit. Their proximity to the Borg left their world in tatters, any and all technology acting as a beacon for the terrifying entities from beyond the conduit. Desperate for a way to stop the Borg, a skilled geneticist created a pathogen capable of rapidly spreading through a Borg Cube, destroying any and all Drones it came into contact with. However, the pathogen needed a delivery mechanism... It needed a patient zero. And so, Icheb was born. A mere child when he was sent to the Borg, Icheb had no idea as to his true origins. After the pathogen ravaged its way through the Borg cube, Icheb was rescued by the U.S.S. Voyager. The Doctor was able to successfully re-integrate the young man into the crew of the ship. Icheb quickly proved himself as an intelligent, skilled, and highly empathetic young officer and endeared himself to the rest of the crew. He formed a strong relationship with Seven of Nine especially, the two of them bonding over their shared experience with the Borg. Upon their return to Earth, Icheb followed in the footsteps of his rescuers and joined the Starfleet Academy. He rose through the ranks quickly, eventually being assigned to the U.S.S. Coleman as a Lieutenant. One day, while taking his position at the bridge, Icheb took stock of where his life had taken him. His parents had created him as a weapon, a mere tool in their mad quest to destroy the Borg. He smiled as he adjusted his Starfleet uniform. “What is my purpose?” he whispered. “To boldly go, where no-one has gone before.”
